UH-1 Huey
US Utility Helicopter
The UH-1 Huey in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam — the US helicopter that defines the American war. Troop insertion, mobility and air support, plus how to fly and survive it.
The sound of the American war.
The UH-1 “Huey” is the headline addition to Hell Let Loose: Vietnam and the single biggest change to how a team plays. The developers have confirmed that US forces have full access to operational helicopters to aid troop operations — making air mobility the defining American capability.
How it changes the game
A Huey lets the US do what no previous Hell Let Loose team could: move a squad across the map in seconds, insert near a contested point, behind the line, or pull troops out of a failing position. It turns the whole battlefield into something fluid for the side that flies it well.
That power comes with real risk. Low and slow on approach — exactly when you’re landing troops — a Huey is a fat target for RPGs and massed ground fire. A lost helicopter is a lost squad and a heavy resource hit.
- Flying it: vary your approaches, avoid predictable LZs, and lean on suppression of the landing zone before you commit.
- Fighting it: as the NVA, watch the likely LZs and ambush helicopters at their most vulnerable — see helicopter operations.
Exact flight model and crew details are still being finalised, so handling notes are expected until launch.
