Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Announced at Gamescom 2025
Team17 and Expression Games revealed Hell Let Loose: Vietnam at the Future Games Show during Gamescom 2025 — moving the acclaimed 50v50 war shooter to the jungles of Vietnam.
The next chapter of the acclaimed tactical-shooter series is official. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam was revealed during the Future Games Show at Gamescom 2025, with publisher Team17 and developer Expression Games taking the franchise’s signature 50v50 warfare out of Europe and into the jungles, paddies and rivers of the Vietnam War.
A standalone step forward
Rather than a piece of DLC, Vietnam is a standalone entry built from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5. The reveal made clear this isn’t simply the old game with new skins: the studio is reworking the experience to fit a very different conflict, keeping the strategy-meets-shooter identity fans love while reinventing the toolset around the 1965–1973 war.
Why Vietnam
The developers have said they chose Vietnam in part because it hadn’t been featured in a major game for many years — a gap in the market for the kind of authentic, large-scale, team-driven warfare Hell Let Loose specialises in. The setting opens the door to mechanics the series has never had: US helicopters, communist tunnel networks, and combat on the rivers.
