Riverine Combat

Waterway Warfare System

Riverine combat in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam — fighting on the rivers and deltas with patrol boats. Why water control decides matches on the wettest maps.

The river is the front line.

Riverine combat is a confirmed core system of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, introducing heavily armed patrol boats and turning the extensive river networks into battlefields in their own right. On water-dominated maps like the Mekong Delta, whoever controls the rivers controls movement, resupply and rotation.

How the rivers fight

Boats combine transport with mounted firepower, so a single craft can both move a squad and support it. But the water is unforgiving terrain: it channels movement into predictable lanes and leaves boats exposed to ambush from the mangrove banks and to RPG fire.

The result is a tug-of-war over the crossings and chokepoints rather than the open water. Treat the rivers as contested highways: escort your boats, watch the banks, and use sampans or stealth where the patrol boats can’t safely go.

Specific boat types and mechanics are expected until the full roster is confirmed at launch.
