The AK-47 is the defining communist rifle of the war and the natural backbone of North Vietnamese loadouts in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam. Rugged and hard-hitting, it’s tailor-made for the NVA and Viet Cong playstyle: strike from concealment at close to medium range, then fade back through cover or a tunnel.
It trades some long-range precision for stopping power and reliability, which suits the dense terrain where North Vietnam wants to fight. Against the American M16 it’s an even match decided by positioning, not stats.
